🖤 Weekly Love News: Shadow Journey Advice 🖤

Hey Reader,

Welcome to this week's Love News. Lately, I've been honing in on what matters most about my artist brand. Connecting with people who value spiritual depth, transformative journeys, and hopeful stories matters. When I show up to create and heal, I also hope to inspire, uplift, and empower you on your journey.

This week, I'm wrapping up edits for a new article on shadow journeys and sharing uplifting Dark Nights of the Soul resources. See, four years ago, the life I knew collapsed, and darkness resulted. I was a caterpillar, and I needed a cocoon before I could emerge as the beautiful butterfly I am now. Dark nights are a seriously valuable blessing, and I’ve learned to love what I’ve been through.

Centering Music, Inspiring Writing, and Healing Books...

Original Content:

  • 🎶 "Compassion" - Sharing on my Music page, this song explores being with deeper inner pain and nurturing the experience. When I sing this one, I grow grounded, centered, and peaceful.
  • 🎶 "I'll Stay" - I wrote this song to comfort myself a few years ago during deep shadow journeys. The lyrics feel like my inner love story and self-acceptance journey.
  • 🎶 "Trust Me" - My second ukulele song, I wrote from a loving mother perspective to help me get over a breakup and other difficult feelings. This song feels so sweet and uplifting each time I sing.
  • ✍️ "How Shadow Work Changed My Life" - The Ascent publication shared this piece in early 2021. I explain how I got into shadow work, insights from the experience, and advice on shadow journeys.
  • ✍️ "10 Ways 'The Artist's Way' Renewed My Creativity-and Life" - Better Advice published my story in 2021. I still share this one often. Explore how to discover and recover your creative self.

Books I Recommend:

  • 📖 "Dark Nights of the Soul" - Thomas Moore's book provides comfort, inspiration, and validation during some intensely difficult times. He helps us find meaning and beauty in the darkness.
  • 📖 "Broken Open" - I found Elizabeth Lesser's book at a thrift store after loving her newer book, "Cassandra Speaks," which my therapist had recommended. When you feel broken down and defeated, she encourages you to break open and transform.

Hey Reader, Let’s talk about safety. I recently watched a psychology video on compatibility, and the part about safety really stuck with me. I spent most of my life not feeling safe in my body. I understand why now. If you grew up in a dysfunctional environment, you internalized that being authentic wasn’t enough. You had to play roles to receive the support you needed from caretakers. As adults, these coping skills aren’t helpful. We can take care of ourselves, be ourselves, and immerse in...

Hello Reader! “Slow is smooth. Smooth is fast,” — a contact improv and dance teacher. Lately, I’ve been doing partner dance and contact improv classes again. I’ve been thinking about how to embrace my chaos without feeling swept away. “In the chaos rhythm, let yourself be uncontrolled without being out of control,” — a five-rhythms dance instructor. We all feel the pressure to go “fast" in our daily lives. That’s capitalism and grind culture messaging, urging us to prove our value with more...

Hello Reader! I’m so glad you’re here. Are you feeling the summer energy as strongly as I am? It’s an exciting season, and so much is happening. With all the motion, recharging your energy matters so much. At my “Rest is Resistance” chill yoga class last Friday, Emily read a passage about fueling yourself. It’s a bit like driving a car and filling the gas tank. Some people always fill up before getting close to empty. Some stretch the miles when the "empty" sign flickers on. Some people carry...
